Lawson Imaging Email FAQ

Setup a password recovery email - IMPORTANT - ALL USERS SHOULD READ THIS!

Login to your roundcube service through the following link, and using your lawsonimaging account. https://www.lawsonimaging.ca/mail Once logged in, click on settings, depicted by a gear icon on top right. Then, click on password on left. There, set your alternative email, and click on save. Alternative email is an email address outside lawsonimaging.ca. It could be a google, or yahoo email, or any other email service except lawsonimaging.ca

Access the new email server using Roundcube:

  • navigate to https://www.lawsonimaging.ca/mail
  • Use your existing username (first part of your lawsonimaging email address).  Use the new password sent to you by Shelagh Ross on Jan 6th, 2014.

IMAP USERS (MS Outlook)

  • Incoming server (within hospital): IMAP | lawsonimaging.ca | port:143 | TLS | username: (your lawsonimaging email address)
  • Incoming server (inside/outside hospital): IMAP | lawsonimaging.ca | port:993 | SSL | username: (your lawsonimaging email address)
  • Outgoing server (within the hospital): SMTP | lawsonimaging.ca | port:25 | TLS | username: (your lawsonimaging email address)
  • Outgoing server (outside hospital): use an SMTP server of your choice, e.g. SMTP | smtp.gmail.com | port:465 | SSL | (your gmail username) | (your gmail password)
  • Use your email address as your username where necessary.  When asked for a password use the new password sent to you by Shelagh Ross on Jan 6th, 2014.

IMAP USERS (Thunderbird, iPhone, Blackberry, etc)

  • Incoming server: IMAP | lawsonimaging.ca | port:993 | SSL/TLS | username: (your lawsonimaging email address)
  • Outgoing server (within the hospital): SMTP | lawsonimaging.ca | port:25 | SSL/TLS (use STARTTLS on Thunderbird) | username: (your lawsonimaging email address)
  • Outgoing server (outside hospital, i.e. mobile devices): use an SMTP server of your choice, e.g. SMTP | smtp.gmail.com | port:465 | SSL | (your gmail username) | (your gmail password)
  • Use your email address as your username where necessary.  When asked for a password use the new password sent to you by Shelagh Ross on Jan 6th, 2014.

Enable a vacation message:

  • Please login using roundcube.
  • Go to Settings -> filters -> managesieve -> Vacation
  • Revise your vacation message as you wish.
  • Uncheck "Filter disabled", and click save. Now, you will be on vacation mode.

Disable a vacation message:

  • Please login using roundcube.
  • Go to Settings -> filters -> managesieve -> Vacation
  • Check "Filter disabled".

Copy an address book from Thunderbird to Roundcube

To import the address book from your workstation to webmail follow these steps in Thunderbird:

  1. In Thunderbird, click on "address book"
  2. Click once on any one of the contacts
  3. Select all (Press CTRL + A)
  4. Go to the Tools menu and click on Export
  5. Select the "Comma separated file" on the drop down menu in the bottom of the page
  6. Save/Export to a file with the name of your choice
  7. Login to Roundcube
  8. Click on address book (avatar icon on top right of page)
  9. Click on import
  10. Select the file you created using the steps above, and import
  11. Press done

Connect to the old email server through Squirrelmail (to verify your email has been transferred correctly, or retrieve the password email sent by Shelagh).

  • navigate to https://www.lawsonimaging.ca/webmail
  • Use your existing lawsonimaging email address as your username.  Use the old password.
  • NOTE: the old server cannot send or receive email.  It is now read only.

HISTORY

The email server was upgraded as of Tuesday February 4, 2014 at 9pm.
Email appears to work normally from inside and outside the hospital.  SMTP is not accessible from outside the hospital (see below).

If you are experiencing connection issues, then please check your antivirus software as it might be configured to scan the IMAP connection.  For example, uncheck 'enable IMAP checking' in ESET NOD32 under advanced settings.  See the image (enod32.png) in the attachments below.

What to expect during migration:

  • No email should be lost. Folder structure will be preserved.
  • The old email server will still be accessible.
  • Some users may see a small number of duplicate emails in their inbox.
  • Web-based email through Squirrelmail has been replaced with Roundcube
