Jun 15, 2012 - Lawson Imaging research on the health and safety impacts of electromagnetic fields featured by CIHR
The biological effects of exposure to electromagnetics fields (EMFs), such as those associated with power lines or medical devices, are being investigated by Dr. Alexandre Legros and associates Dr. Alex Thomas and Dr. Julien Modolo. This research is contributing to evidence-based international regulatory guidelines, which set public and worker safety limits regarding exposure to EMFs. This multidisciplinary team is also exploring the potential therapeutic uses of EMFs to treat neurological conditions such as Parkinson's disease. Funded by Industry-Partnered Collaborative Research (IPCR) grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and industry partners Hydro-Québec (Canada), Electricité de France (France), Réseau de transport d'électricité (France), Electric Power Research Institute (U.S.) and Mitacs (Canada), this research is featured on CIHR's website.
